Basic Chocolate Sponge Cake


A simple basic chocolate sponge cake is one of my favorites! I love the simplicity, the spongy texture and the fragrant chocolate smell! Nothing can beat that! It can also be used as a base for any birthday cake or cake decorations.

Ingredients:
4 eggs
80g sugar
60g vegetable oil
60g milk
20g cocoa powder
70g cake flour
1 tsp baking powder

Steps:
1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and line an 8-inch round pan.
2. Beat eggs and sugar at max speed till pale and fluffy. Beat in oil. Alternately fold in the dry mixture and the milk using a spatula or a balloon whisk.
3. Bake in oven for 40-45 minutes or toothpick inserted comes out clean. Invert cake pan on wire rack to let it cool completely.




It is indeed a very light, spongy and fluffy cake! I absolutely like it!
